Volunteer Vacations
Spend your vacation in beautiful Texas Hill County at Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation (WRR) helping care for the animals in our clinic and sanctuary.
WRR offers year-round opportunities for volunteers to work with wildlife on our 187-acre sanctuary in central Texas. We are here 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, caring for the thousands of rescued animals in our clinic and sanctuary — and volunteers play a very important part in fulfilling our life-saving mission.
It is with fond memories and a deep sense of satisfaction that I write today to express my gratitude to the staff of Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation for giving me the opportunity to become part of your hard-working team of caring conservationists this past summer. For two very hot weeks in July I worked along side your skilled and caring staff and interns — preparing food and formula, scrubbing bottles, cleaning cages, hand-feeding both furry and feathered babies (including dozens of hungry fawns all at once!), and helping to rehabilitate an injured duck through daily 'swim lessons.' For an animal lover like me, it was a volunteer vacation to remember.
Many thanks to all who made me feel so warmly welcomed and genuinely appreciated. With great patience and enthusiasm, you shared your vast insight and expertise in caring for injured and orphaned wildlife, and gave me the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful, hands-on way to your worthy cause during your very busy 'baby season.' I am in awe of all you do!

Join our team of animal caretakers for a week, two weeks, or a month to help care for wildlife, farmed animals, and companion animals. The spring and summer months offer opportunities to help with baby birds, opossums, squirrels, and fawns. Late fall and winter volunteers help with adult wildlife as well as with projects that help our sanctuary animals stay warm and comfortable.
You will attend an orientation program, receive an official Wildlife Rescue Volunteer t-shirt, and participate in our Clinic Training Program. There are no fees charged for this experience, although we would appreciate a $100 tax-deductible donation to help cover administrative and equipment costs.
Housing is available in nearby communities that will suit any budget or desired accommodations, from campgrounds and affordable cabins to luxury B&B spas. A rental car is necessary. WRR is located close to San Antonio and Austin and their many amenities. On your free days, you may also enjoy touring and tasting in the Texas wine country, visiting the historic missions, or enjoying the abundance of outdoor activities.
