Reward Doubled for Information Leading to Arrest and Conviction of Those Abusing, Burning Dogs and Cats in San Antonio and Blanco

Press Release by Animal Defense League

San Antonio, TX – Saturday, July 19, 2008 – The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who have abused and burned dogs and cats in San Antonio and Blanco in recent weeks has doubled to $2,000, thanks to Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation (WRR) matching the original $1,000 reward offered by the Animal Defense League (ADL).

WRR founder and executive director Lynn Cuny praised ADL for offering the reward and said she is matching the amount to try to encourage people to come forward with information that will help stop the abuse of companion animals in our community.

Recently ADL rescued two dogs who had been severely burned, a dog who had been hung from a tree, and a cat whose tail and been burned. And WRR assisted in the rescue and treatment of a puppy who had been horribly abused in Blanco by a man who broke into a home and poured bleach down the puppy's throat.

ADL executive director Ron Aaron thanked Ms. Cuny and WRR for joining with ADL. "Lynn and I are both horrified by the violence we have seen in recent weeks. We believe the perpetrators are teenage boys or adult males in their twenties. And based on the nature of these crimes it is very likely they have bragged to friends and acquaintances about what they did to those animals."

"Bottom line," Cuny added, "someone knows who did this. And we hope the $2,000 reward will provide the incentive for them to come forward and tell us what they know."

Those with information on the abuse in San Antonio should call ADL Executive Director Ron Aaron at (210) 655-1481 x111. ADL will pass any and all information on to Animal Care Service's abuse investigators who work closely with the San Antonio Police Department.

Those with information on the torture of the puppy in Blanco should call WRR Executive Director Lynn Cuny at (830) 336-2725 x309. WRR will pass any and all information on to the Blanco Police Department which is conducting the investigation.
