Sanctuary News
May/June 2007
The weather in South Texas is heating up,
as is the flurry of activity in the Wildlife Rescue &
Rehabilitation (WRR) Rehabilitation
Clinic & Nursery. We have seen our way through the
squirrel and opossum babies, and happily many have already
been released back to the wild. The songbirds, doves, and
pigeons are filling our rooms and we are in the peak of fawn
season. Baby bobcats who came to WRR in October 2006 are growing
bigger and stronger and will be ready for release in the coming
months.
Sadly, in May the female African lioness passed
away. Her body finally gave way to the rickets and other physical
issues due to malnourishment in her early years being kept
as a pet. Her beautiful face and feisty nature will be missed
by those who had to privilege to care for her.
Each day means new arrivals, and occasionally
a loss, and the staff, interns, and volunteers continue in
their work to care for all of the lives entrusted to us —
so that we may continue to do right by the animals.
Warmest regards,

Angela Grimes, Director of Operations
Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation, Inc.
