Brings a Puppy Rescue Triple Header!
by Angela Grimes, Director of Operations
Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation (WRR)
recently rescued its third set of moms and puppies from a
fate of certain death. San Antonio's animal control center
picked up a nursing mother from the south side of town, leaving
behind eight puppies only a day or two old. Mom, now named
Honey, was taken to the downtown dog pound, where I can only
imagine how frightened she was for herself and the babies
from whom she had been taken. Those of us who handled the
incoming calls for help knew how important it was to quickly
reunite the mother and her puppies. Without mom's nourishing
milk — or even a substitute formula — the eight
hungry puppies would not have very long to live.
WRR volunteers made two trips to animal control
before getting the mother released from their kennels. Kim,
the wonderful WRR puppy foster mom, now has Honey and her
beautiful boys and girls in her home until they are of adoptable
age.
WRR has many cats and several other adult
dogs in need of homes. If you are interested
in adopting or know someone who would like to make an
adorable addition to their family, please contact Angela at
(830) 336-2725. The puppies mentioned in this article will
be ready for their new homes at the end of August.
