WRR Sanctuary News

March 2008

As you read this update, you will see that babies are much on our minds right now. Whether lambs born with disabilities or bobcats, birds, and raccoons whose mothers were killed, the WRR Clinic & Rehabilitation Nursery is filling fast. This is the time of year when animal caretakers sometimes feel as if they are on rollercoasters — babies and sometimes injured mothers arriving in increasing numbers, hungry mouths and aching bodies, animals beyond hope and others with the determination and capacity to use our temporary help before launching themselves into the lives that nature intended for them in the wild. It's an exciting time, and also a time punctuated with fatigue and sadness, followed by exaltation as another rescued orphan shows the grit that will carry him or her back home.

I wish we had space for more stories about the amazing resilience and courage of these animals and, I must add, of those who spend so many hours preparing them for release. Enjoy the stories and consider buying a ticket for the Mercedes raffle — you might find yourself in a gorgeous luxury automobile and you will certainly know that the animals served by Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation are the real beneficiaries of your consideration.

All my best wishes for the spring,

Angela
