WRR Sanctuary News

June 2008

The heat of summer has settled into south central Texas. Mild spring temperatures and the promise of rain have once again evaporated as we head into yet another parched summer season. The primates at the Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation (WRR) sanctuary come from tropical, hot climates and they fare well in the heat, given fresh water and shady retreats from the midday sun. The cougars nap on their wooded rocky cliff, the bears seek the comfort of their dark dens, and the pigs relax in their muddy wallow under a tree. The pastures are stocked with fresh hay bales to supplement the diet of the mules, donkeys, and sheep who roam our arid acres.

The brown pastures and threats of wildfires serve as real and dangerous reminders of the global climate crisis and our need to act to preserve the Earth for her human and non-human inhabitants. Everyone can help in big and small ways. Please join WRR in protecting our planet and all its life.

Best wishes,

Angela
