Sanctuary News
October 2008
It seemed as if yesterday we were still in
the midst of the long, hot days of summer when dozens of tiny
orphaned birds and infant pink opossums arrived in our clinic
and nursery each day. But rather than entering, these animals
are nearing the end of their stay at Wildlife Rescue &
Rehabilitation (WRR). These little lives have been diligently
cared for by the animal caretaking staff,
interns, and
volunteers over
the past months, and now many are ready for their return
to the wild, where they rightfully belong. After long
and exhausting hours, this is our reward — to see them
free again — and it makes all of our efforts worthwhile.
You, too, share in our job and its rewards, because without
our supporters none
of this would be possible.
Our focus at WRR now turns to cooler temperatures
and all we need to do to make the sanctuary ready for winter.
Primate heaters are being attended to by the maintenance staff
to be sure their winter houses will be toasty warm, thick
beds of hay are added to shelters, and we are stocking up
on supplies of peanut butter, honey, beans, and other protein-rich
foods to keep everyone in our sanctuary nourished.
Each season brings something new to WRR and
the animals who need our help. As the holidays approach, we
hope you will remember the animals. Remember the WRR
Online Store and Wish
Lists when doing your shopping this holiday season. I
hope you enjoy this edition of our e-newsletter and will feel
free to let us know your thoughts. We enjoy receiving your
comments at info@wildlife-rescue.org.
Everyone at WRR wishes you the best for this
holiday season!
